Yesterday morning at about 10:30 o'clock whle Mr. Sol. Barclay was standing under the elevator shaft conversing with a lady customer, a bedstead fell through the third story, the iron casting on the end striking Mr. Barclay on the top of the head, and cutting a terrible gash. Dr. Charles L. Culpepper was called in and made the gentleman as comfortable as possible.

Solomon T. Barclay, aged 75, husband of Mrs. Eula Herbert Barclay, died yesterday in Arlington after several weeks' illness. Mr. Barclay was engaged in the real estate and insurance business in Portsmouth.
He was the son of Solomon T. and Mrs. Johanna Dickson Barclay. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Dr. Earl H. Barclay, of Hamilton, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. J. F. Battley, of Arlington; two grandchildren; a brother, George Dickson Barclay, of Globe, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews.
The body will arrive in Portsmouth Wednesday morning, and will be taken to the Sturtevant Funeral Home, 915 Court Street. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Solomon T. Barclay, a former resident of Portsmouth, who died last Sunday at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. J. F. Battley, at Arlington, was buried yesterday in Oak Grove Cemetery. Funeral services , which were largely attended, were conducted at 10 o'clock at Trinity Episcopal Church by the Rev. Charles H. Holmead, rector.
During the services, Mrs. Glenn Harrell sang a selection, Mrs. Gaston S. Foote was accompanist.
The casket was covered with lilies. There were many floral tokens of sympathy, including a design from Kupter Bros., Riversdale Mills, Whitinsdale, Mass.; Employees J. S. Crawford Co., and White Lily Camp, Woodman of the World.
Pallbearers were H. P. Barclay, Charles O. Barclay, R. C. Barclay, L. R. Barclay, Shelton T. Barclay, and William C. Barclay, all nephews of the deceased.
