Portsmouth--Harry Lynn Hopewell Sr., 78, of the first block of Fairway Drive, a retired self-employed residential developer, died Nov. 26, 1988, in a hospital.
Mr. Hopewell, a native of Bridgeton, N.C., was founder of the Circle Restaurant in Portsmouth. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Portsmouth. He was a charter member of the Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Mathews Hopewell; two daughters, Lou R. Hopewell of Powhatan, Va., and Nina H. Barnes of Chesapeake; two sons, H. Lynn Hopewell Jr. of Warrenton, Va. and Robert S. Hopewell of Falls Church; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. David J. Palmer. Friends may join the family at the residence. Sturtevant Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church.
