Hugh P. Barclay--Portsmouth---Hugh P. Barclay, 80, retired dairyman died at 8 a.m. Saturday in a Portsmouth hospital after a short illness. He headed Barclay Diary Co. 50 years.
A native of Norfolk County, he lived in this area all his life, lately at 523 Clifford St. He was the son of Robert C. and Mrs. Nellie Old Barclay.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and Mohawk Tribe 6 of Red Men.
He is survived by a brother, R. C. Barclay, and two nephews, Dr. C. O. Barclay, Jr. and Robert C. Barclay III, and a niece, Mrs. John Ridgely Porter Jr., all of Portsmouth.
The body was taken to Snellings Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family has requested that flowers be omitted.

Lewis B. Barclay, Jr., 71, died at 1:30 o'clock this morning at his residence, 2814 Chestnut St. He had been confined to his home for the past several days with a heart infection from which he had suffered for some months.
The deceased known widely in Portsmouth, and to his intimates affectionately as "Pete" Barclay, had been in the real estate business for a good many years. He was the city-county real estate auctioneer and his familiar figure was always seen on the court house steps at all local realty auction sales. Many of these he had conducted.
Mr. Barclay never married. He had been a lifelong resident of the community. Prominent especially in Methodism and local Masonry, he was of the official body of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church and was the tiler of the local Masonic lodges, having general care of the Portsmouth Masonic Temple on Court St., near the corner of High St. for its general trustees.
Mr. Barclay's direct Masonic connection was with Portsmouth Naval Lodge No. 100, the city's oldest Masonic lodge. His other Masonic connections were with Mount Horeb Royal Arch Chapter 11, Commandery Knights Templar 5, and the Khedive Temple Shrine.
He is survived by a brother, S. T. Barclay, of Portsmouth.
Funeral service will be conducted at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church Monday at 2 p.m. The body will be taken from the Sturtevant Funeral Home at 11 a.m. to Wesley Memorial Church. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will assemble at 2814 Chestnut St.

I, L. B. Barclay, being of sound mind do hereby make this my will and testament.
I do hereby give all my property, of all kinds and description I may be possessed, wheresoever located, to my brother Sheldon T. Barclay, in fee simple.
I hereby appoint him Sheldon T. Barclay as Executor o fthis my last will, and request that he be allowed to qualify as such without giving bond or having appraisment made.

The last will and testament of L. B. Barclay, late of this City, deceased, was this day produced before me by Sheldon T. Barclay, the executor therein named, and was fully proved by the oaths of R. C. Barclay and Robert C. Barclay, III, the subscribing witnesses thereto, and was thereupon ordered to be recorded; and on motion of Sheldon T. Barclay, the only Executor named in said will, who made oath as the law directs and entered into a bond in the penalty of two thousand ($2,000.00) dollars conditioned according to law, (but without surety, the will providing none be required of him, and which said bond being acknowledged by the obligor therein, is ordered to be recorded;) certificate is granted the said Sheldon T. Barclay, for obtaining a probate of the said will in due form; and thereupon, the said Sheldon T. Barclay, executor as aforesaid, filed the list required by law, containging the names, and so far as possible the ages and addresses of the heirs of the said L. B. Barclay, deceased, verified by the affidavit of the said Sheldon T. Barclay, that the list is believed by him to be true.
