It is my painful duty to announce to the Navy Department the sudden death last night of Prof. A. G. Pendleton U.S.N. attached to this office who died on his way home about 4 p.m. yesterday, three miles from the city of Washington at a house by the roadside where he had stopped in consequence of feeling unwell, for (as he supposed) temporary rest.
