1. Obituary 3103, death of little Farlie Nash, 30 Mar 1897 in Portsmouth, Portsmouth (city), Virginia, USA
Died---Nash---At the residence of his parents, No. 301 Middle street, Portsmouth, Va., March 29, 1897, at 5 a.m., Fairlie Patton, son of F. P. and Fannie A. Nash, in the 6th year of his age.
Funeral services from the residence tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon at 5 o'clock.

30 March 1897---Death of Farlie Nash
Little Farlie Nash, so universally petted and loved in the community, is dead! "God's finger touched him and he slept." He was an idol of hearts and of households. Although so young, his manliness and sprightliness were attractions which made men and women love him. The bright promise of his young life made him the pride of a devoted father's and loving mother's heart.
"The childhood shows the man,
As morning shows the day."
And Farlie Nash seemed moulded in a hero's form. His ideas of propriety and justice were chivalric and drew the admiration of all with whom he came in contact. His was
"A truthful page in childhood's lovely face,
Whereon sweet innocence has record made;
An outward semblance of the young heart's grace,
Where truth, and love, and trust are all portrayed."
Deep is the sympathy of all our citizens for the mother and father and many mingle their tears with those who are nearest the sleeping heart----
"Death lies on him like an intimely frost
Upon the sweetest flower of all the field"
God has called Farlie to the home of rest, where he now awaits father, mother, and all the loved ones who grieve for their loss, and this must lift them nearer to God.
Farlie Patton Nash Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Nash, was born October 1, 1891 and died at 4:40 o'clock a.m. Monday, March 29, 1897.
His funeral will take place this afternoon at 5 o'clock from the residence of his parents on Middle street.
