A native of Portsmouth, he was a son of Job and Mrs. Ada Cocke Manning.
He was a retired accountant, a member of Monumental Methodist Church, Seaboard Mason Lodge 56 and Mt. Horeb Royal Arch Chapter 11.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Thomas Gillam of Windsor, N.C.; three nieces and five nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted in Sturtvant Funeral Home Tuesday at 11 a.m. by Dr. John Owens of Monumental Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. [Date death 13 Jun 1966. Need date of newspaper.]

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. D. O. Thomas of Virginia Beach; two sons, Waler D. Manning and Sam L. Manning of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Miss Jennie A. Manning and Mrs. Agnes Barry of Norfolk; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to Snellings Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be conducted Monday at 12:30 p.m. by the Rev. John L. Kibler. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
