Henry Jolley, son of John and Louisa Bryan Jolley, was born 26 August 1789 in Pitt County, North Carolina. On 23 January 1806 in Pitt County, North Carolina, he married Frances Manning, daughter of Reuben and Diana McCoy Manning. She was born 26 September 1789 also in Pitt County. In 1825 the Jolleys moved to Tennessee. It was in Tennessee on 18 February 1842 that Henry and Frances Jolley became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Not long after, they moved to Nauvoo, Illinois where Frances died on 29 September 1844. After Frances's death, Henry married his second wife Barbara. They journeyed to the Salt Lake Valley in 1848 with the Amasa Lyman Company settling first in Salt Lake City then later south in Grove Creek, which is now known as Pleasant Grove in present day Utah County. It was here that Henry Jolley died on 20 December 1850.. "Soon after Henry death his second wife, Barbara, left for California and was never heard from again by the family members", p. 52. In December 1954 Henry's body was moved from Pleasant Grove to the Provo City Cemetery in Provo, Utah. Descendants lived in Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington and elsewhere.2. Residence 56, moved to, 1825 in Tennessee
